Tour Plan

Day 01 Colombo

After a warm welcome to the island, you will travel to Colombo. Sri Lanka's capital is just a few hours away, so the drive will be over before you know it.

You can check in at the hotel in Colombo and take the chance to refresh yourself. Since there are only a few hours of the day remaining, you can simply enjoy the facilities at the hotel, or take a walk around the neighbourhood. The streets of Colombo are always lively and you will be entertained by just people watching.

Day 02 Pinnawala

A conservation project that seeks to ensure the well-being of its resident Asian elephants, Pinnawala is synonymous with elephants. The nearby Ma Oya provides water for the elephants' consumption and mahouts also take them to the river regularly to bathe.

Day 03 Dambulla and Sigiriya

Dambulla Cave Temple is one of the oldest cave temple complexes in Sri Lanka. The temple has five cave shrines that hold a stunning number of Buddhist statues and cave wall paintings. However, these shrines all belong to one single cave.

After exploring the cave temple, head to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The seat of power for an Anuradhapura era king for 18 years, Sigiriya continues to attract visitors from all over the world. While climbing the metal staircase that winds along the sheer rock walls, you will be able to enjoy the Mirror Wall - where ancient graffiti is carved onto the rock - and the beautiful Sigiriya Apsarawo (Damsels of Sigiriya) - a series of frescoes that resemble the cave paintings at Ajantha, India.

Day 04 Matale and Kandy

Visit a Spice Garden in Matale before reaching Kandy. A tour of the garden is perfect for learning about Sri Lankan spices. You can even purchase some to take home with you.

Once you reach Kandy, you can enjoy a city tour getting to know the capital of the Hill Country better. Afterwards, you can relax at the hotel.

Day 05 Kandy
Day 06 Nuwara Eliya

The drive to Nuwara Eliya is one of the best Sri Lanka has to offer. Along the way, you will pass waterfalls as well as tea estates. This is the perfect chance to visit a tea estate and a factory. Learn the process that transforms the fresh tea buds into the dried and fragrant tea products that you know. Don’t forget to sip a freshly brewed cuppa in the cool climes before getting back on the road.

Take a tour around Nuwara Eliya and watch as misty clouds begin to cover the mountaintops. Lake Gregory at the heart of the city has a carnival-like atmosphere and is perfect for a walk. Following that, you can take a tour of the New Zealand Farm, one of the major dairy farms on the island.

Day 07 Ella and Kataragama

Ella is a popular tourist destination in its own right. So, take a detour to visit some attractions in Ella such as the Nine Arch Bridge and the Ella Gap.

Then get back on the road, leaving behind the temperate climate of the central hills, to the heat of the dry zone. The difference is striking, and you can experience it first-hand even before reaching Tissamaharama. Visit the famous Kataragama temple before going on an evening safari at the famous Yala National Park.

Day 08 Unawatuna and Galle

Get ready for some coastal adventures. Your first destination today is the Unawatuna Beach. One of the most famous and popular beaches in the south, Unawatuna can beguile you to spend hours in the ocean.

When you can bear to move away from the beach, you will head to Galle, where a city tour can help you discover more about this historic city.

Day 09 Negombo

Visit the turtles at a turtle hatchery in the morning before saying a brief goodbye to the ocean in favour of a river safari in the Madu River. Then head to Negombo for a city tour and shopping extravaganza before leaving the island.
