Tour Plan

Day 01 Negombo and Chilaw

Negombo is your first stop on the tour. The guide will escort you to your hotel where you can unwind and refresh yourself.

Then you will travel to Chilaw. Located about 30 kilometres away, Chilaw is home to a beautiful Hindu temple. The Munneswaram Temple has a strong link to the Ramayanaya. It is one of five ancient Hindu temples in Sri Lanka dedicated to God Shiva. Although the temple predates the Ramayanaya, legends continue to associate the temple with the Indian epic. According to one origin story of the temple, after Prince Rama had defeated King Ravana of Sri Lanka and rescued Princess Sita, the royal couple began their journey back to their kingdom in India. Along the way, the Prince feels the presence of an evil spirit following in their wake. At one point, Prince Rama stops their journey to seek the advice of God Vishnu, who recommends installing four Lingams and praying. The legend states that one such lingam is found near the temple.

After you explore the temple and its history, head back to Negombo.

Day 02 Pinnawala and Kandy

Today, you are taking a step back from legends. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel before beginning your journey to Kandy. Along the way stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and watch as these gentle giants interact with each other. If you are lucky, you might get the opportunity to watch them bathe at the nearby Ma Oya, or play with a baby elephant.

Once in Kandy, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most important Sri Lankan Buddhist temples. The sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is enshrined at the Temple. The beautiful Kandyan-era wall paintings, wood and granite carvings and granite statues at the Temple are a sight to behold.

Day 03 Kandy

Sit down for a leisurely breakfast before taking a Kandy city tour. The stunning city has a lot to offer. The hills and mountains that surround Kandy create beautiful scenery. At the heart of the bustling city, the Kandy Lake is a peaceful oasis.

Day 04 Nuwara Eliya

You will be travelling to Nuwara Eliya today. The area has several sites that connect to the Ramayanaya. So finish your breakfast peacefully and on we go to Nuwara Eliya.

The route takes you past the Ramboda Falls. From there, a short drive takes you to a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a monkey king and a close ally of Prince Rama. The Sri Bhakti Hanuman Hindu Temple is in Ramboda. It spreads across 10 acres of land. People believe that Lord Hanuman had searched the area for clues about the whereabouts of Princess Sita. There is a 16-foot tall carved granite idol of Lord Hanuman at the premises, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of a nearby valley and Reservoir from the temple grounds.

Once you explore, the temple, you will resume your journey to Nuwara Eliya. The mountainous road takes you past several tea estates and you can enjoy gorgeous views.

Day 05 Nuwara Eliya and Ella

Sip a hot cup of tea with your breakfast before setting out for today's expedition. The Sita Amman Temple is just a few kilometres away from the Nuwara Eliya town. It sits near a babbling stream, where Sita was said to have bathed. Beyond the temple, there is a forest-covered hill, which adds beauty to the setting. The temple is said to be one of the only temples dedicated to Sita. On a boulder near the stream, there is a footprint that devotees believe is Lord Hanuman's.

Afterwards, tour Ashoka Vatika, commonly believed to be the area around Hakgala. This is where Ravana took Sita on a tour to showcase the beauty of his domain. Once you explore its natural beauty, travel to Divurumpola - where Sita underwent a trial by fire (a test of purity) to prove her faithfulness.

Then proceed to Ella to visit the Ravana Falls and Ravana Caves - two other sites associated with the legend.

Day 06 Colombo

After breakfast, you will be looking at a journey of several hours. The road will take you to Sri Lanka's capital city - Colombo. The route is scenic and takes you through different landscapes, so simply sit back and enjoy the ride.

Day 07 Conclusion

After breakfast, depart to the airport in time for your international flight.
